Art Therapist - Education and Credentials
An Art Therapist uses all types of art experiences as a tool in a counseling setting to achieve specific therapeutic goals. This is similar to a talk therapist using leading questions to achieve specific therapeutic goals. The process of creating art can evoke emotional, physical, spiritual, and sensory responses not normally seen in other types of therapy sessions based upon a growing body of research. All art therapists have the education, training, and have passed the national board to receive the credential ATR-BC, Art Therapist Registered, Board-Certified through the Art Therapy Credentialing Board.
